Car Lights Information

My husband and I have been having the same argument for about three months now, and I don’t understand why he is giving me grief about something so simple. The car lights on the front of our car are not bright enough, and I am having a hard time seeing when I am driving at night. He claims they are ok, but I don’t want to settle for our headlights being just ok. I want them to be as bright as they can be. I often have my daughter in the car and I need to be able to see clearly when I drive after dark.

Our car lights have always been a bit dim, but they are really getting bad now. I don’t know what the problem is, but they need to be replaced as soon as possible. I remember one night when I was driving home from Connecticut. The carlights were so dim that I didn’t realize they were not on. As the sun went down I suddenly realized that something was wrong and flipped them on. They didn’t make much difference and it was not pleasant to drive across three states like that.

What I notice the most is how much brighter the carlights are on every other vehicle on the road. When the guy who is five hundred feet ahead of me is shedding more light on the road than my car lights are, there is something wrong. The road that is that far ahead of me should not be brighter to me than what is right in front of me. I see this all the time and I get very frustrated. I can’t see as well as I want to, and when I am driving, nothing could bother me more. Safe driving depends on being able to see.

My husband has told me that perhaps the covers over the car lights need to be washed, or perhaps they need to be refocused. I asked him to fix both problems but so far he has not done anything about either problem. He said that he couldn’t replace both car lights at once because there is the chance they will both die at the same time in the future. I told him that I don’t care what he does, but he does need to do something. Driving around with car lights that are dim and almost useless is simply not an option.
